The Times apologises to Infantino over second-salary report

The Times retracted its report that FIFA president Gianni Infantino received an undisclosed second salary and apologised to him and FIFA, according to a newspaper statement circulated by the federation.

The correction concerns an October 13 article. The newspaper acknowledged that Infantino's expenses and reimbursements are not remuneration under Swiss reporting rules, so FIFA need not list them as compensation in its annual report.

It also withdrew the claim that Infantino bought Miami property at a reduced price. The correction said neither he nor his family owned or controlled Shadi LLC.

FIFA said it would continue challenging inaccurate and false reports and urged media outlets to check their sources.
