The former Real Madrid midfielder has told Spain’s football federation he wants to join a coaching programme for professional players. Completing it would lead to a UEFA A licence.
AS reported that Kroos informed the Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) of his interest in its special coaching course for professional footballers in the 2027/28 season. The programme would mark a step toward a possible coaching career.
The 36-year-old German currently holds a qualification that allows him to manage teams in Spain’s third tier. At clubs in the top two divisions, he can work only as an assistant coach. Completing the new course would qualify him for a UEFA A licence.
Kroos retired from professional football in July 2024. He won the Champions League five times with Real Madrid and once with Bayern Munich. He was part of Germany’s 2014 World Cup-winning team.
