Traktor beat Shanghai Dragons 6–2 as Gordon reflects on Russia experience

Traktor Chelyabinsk beat Shanghai Dragons 6–2 away in a KHL game in Saint Petersburg on October 14. After the match, winning coach Scott Gordon described working in Russia as a new experience and rated it ten out of ten.
Grigorenko, Stepan Gorbunov and Yaroslav Fedoseyev put the visitors 3–0 ahead at SKA Arena. In the second period, Dmitrij Jaskin and David Chen converted power plays to bring Shanghai within one goal.
Alexei Savelyev and Grigorenko then restored Traktor’s advantage. Maxim Dzhioshvili scored into an empty net late in the game to complete the scoring.
At the post-match news conference, Gordon praised the standard of KHL hockey, his treatment at the club and the players’ help with his adjustment. The American also spoke positively about Russian food and the people he had met.
However, he acknowledged that the team was below its desired position in the standings and was making mistakes. Gordon took charge of Traktor in May. He previously coached the New York Islanders and Philadelphia Flyers.
Traktor’s next game is away to Neftekhimik. Shanghai Dragons will host Ak Bars.
