Trump calls rally protesters paid after interruptions in Texas

Donald Trump’s speech at a rally in San Antonio was interrupted several times by protesters. The U.S. president said they were being paid to demonstrate and told them to leave the event.

Trump attended the rally in San Antonio, Texas, overnight into Thursday, October 8. RIA Novosti reported that protesters interrupted his remarks repeatedly. After another shout from the crowd, the president addressed those he called paid demonstrators, asking them to raise their hands and then leave.

One protester appeared to be escorted out after shouting toward Trump, according to footage of the event. The president said the person was going home to his mother and added that, in his words, she had voted for him. U.S. media carried footage from the rally.

The report did not provide evidence that the protesters had been paid. Trump made the claim while responding to interruptions from the audience.
