CNBC finds $10,000 Coupang payment to U.S. trade representative Jamieson Greer

U.S. Trade Representative Jamieson Greer’s disclosures list a $10,000 honorarium from Coupang in 2024 and a meeting with the company after he took office. CNBC said it could not determine whether he received ethics clearance to participate.

Greer’s 2025 financial filing lists between $1.17 million and $3.75 million in cash, retirement accounts and other investments. CNBC reported that he received $652,610 in salary and bonus from former law firm King & Spalding in 2025.

His nominee disclosure lists a $10,000 Coupang honorarium in May 2024. On April 24, 2025, Greer met with the South Korean e-commerce company at the Office of the U.S. Trade Representative during trade talks. He had met South Korea’s trade minister earlier that day.

Before joining the administration, Greer pledged to avoid certain matters involving former clients for one year unless ethics officials cleared his participation. CNBC said public records did not show whether USTR treated Coupang as a former client or whether Greer received approval. Greer, USTR and Coupang did not respond to CNBC’s requests for comment.

Federal disclosures report most assets in broad ranges, so they do not establish Greer’s exact net worth. The filing also does not value his personal residence.
