Turkey may remain an expensive destination for Russian tourists

Turkish commentator Mustafa Recep Erçin links the high cost of holidays to inflation, the managed lira and rising service prices. He says hotel stays remain relatively affordable.

Turkey is likely to remain an expensive destination for Russian tourists in 2027, Turkish economic commentator Mustafa Recep Erçin said. He attributed the outlook to high inflation and the managed exchange rate of the lira.

Figures from the Turkish Statistical Institute cited by RIA Novosti show accommodation and food prices rose 27.53% year on year in August 2026. Erçin also pointed to elevated oil prices amid developments around Iran and to rising service costs within Turkey.

Erçin distinguished hotel rates from other holiday expenses. He said accommodation remained relatively affordable by international standards, while meals and other services continued to be costly.
