Police in Alexandra, a suburb north of Johannesburg, are investigating the killing of two high school learners. Their bodies, with gunshot wounds, were found on the evening of October 5 at the intersection of Roosevelt and 6th Avenue, near Madala Hostel.
Gauteng police spokesperson Dimakatso Nevhuhulwi told SABC News that the victims were 17 and 19 and were both learners. Police said the motive for the shooting remained under investigation and no one had been arrested at the time of publication.
Local outlet Alex News also reported the deaths of two learners in Alexandra. Its report said police received a shooting alert at about 9 p.m. Police had not announced an arrest or identified a suspect.
