Uttar Pradesh Cabinet approves proposed name for Jewar airport

Uttar Pradesh's Cabinet approved a proposal on October 9 to name the airport at Jewar after Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath announced.

The proposed name is Narendra Modi International Airport, Noida-Jewar. The facility is currently known as Noida International Airport. Adityanath announced the Cabinet's decision after its meeting.

The chief minister described it as the state's largest airport and said it could become the country's largest aviation hub. That describes his expectation for its future rather than its current standing among Indian airports.

Explaining the decision, Adityanath thanked the prime minister for his contribution to infrastructure development. He also cited the construction of 42 national highways in the state, spanning 2,483 kilometres at a cost of approximately 60,000 crore rupees.

The announcement concerns the state Cabinet's approval of the proposal. It does not specify a separate date when the new name will take effect.
