US says fighter jet disabled cargo ship Ocean Molica in Gulf of Oman

US Central Command said an American fighter jet disabled the propulsion of the cargo ship Ocean Molica in the Gulf of Oman on October 10. The military accused the vessel of attempting to breach its naval blockade of Iran.
The command said a precision munition struck the stern of the Panama-flagged vessel, also known as Arika Sun. It said the crew was unharmed and the ship could no longer move under its own power.
According to the command, Ocean Molica had left an Iranian port and continued sailing despite warnings. Reuters reported that it could not immediately reach the bulk carrier's operator for comment. Its report did not include an account from the crew.
The US military advised mariners in the Gulf of Oman and the approaches to the Strait of Hormuz to monitor navigation warnings and contact US naval forces.
