Viktor Drobysh says there is no point in seeking a new Russian pop “prima donna”

The composer told RIA Novosti he sees no need to appoint a successor to Alla Pugacheva and prefers to focus on music rather than grand titles.

Producer and composer Viktor Drobysh said he sees no need to look for a new “prima donna” of Russian pop after Alla Pugacheva left Russia. He made the comment in an interview with RIA Novosti.

Drobysh said he respects his colleagues’ work but does not understand the desire to put anyone on a pedestal. He compared such a title to choosing a director for an “underground marmalade factory.”

The producer called such distinctions “fluff,” saying people in the music industry live by music, not titles.
