Vyacheslav Fetisov backs Dynamo Moscow for possible Ovechkin return

Vyacheslav Fetisov says Dynamo Moscow is the appropriate club for Alexander Ovechkin if he returns to Russia. Match TV reported that the two-time Olympic champion considers it the only option.

Fetisov linked his view to the Washington Capitals captain's attachment to Dynamo Moscow, saying Ovechkin regularly speaks about the club and takes pride in it.

On October 5, Ovechkin announced that the 2026/2027 season would be his last in the NHL. He said the decision was made with his family over the summer.

In early July, he signed a new one-year contract with Washington. Ovechkin has played for the Capitals since 2005.

Before moving to the NHL, he played for Dynamo Moscow, where he developed as a young player. Fetisov's comments concern a possible return to Russia after Ovechkin's final NHL season.
