Zelensky says Russia is preparing a new large-scale attack

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said intelligence had provided fresh information about Russian preparations for a major strike. He urged people to heed air-raid warnings and again asked Western allies for air-defence systems.

“We have current intelligence that the Russians are preparing a massive strike,” Zelensky said in his Tuesday evening video address. He said Ukraine’s security forces and air force were ready to respond within the limits of the country’s available defences.

He urged residents not to ignore air-raid warnings and said much depended on partners’ readiness to provide Kyiv with the defence systems it needs.

DPA noted that Ukraine’s air defences were short of ammunition, particularly for systems capable of intercepting ballistic missiles. The Associated Press also reported Zelensky’s warning and preparations for countermeasures. Neither report specified the timing or targets of a possible attack.
