The Cleveland Guardians beat the Chicago White Sox 9-3 in Game 3 of their Division Series. After two Chicago wins, the series score is 2-1.
Jo Adell's three-run triple in the third inning proved decisive. The Cleveland outfielder's hit gave the Guardians a 4-1 lead. Adell became the 16th player in MLB postseason history to triple in consecutive playoff games, CBS Sports reported.
Chicago had several chances to score more. The White Sox stranded two runners in the first inning, and after opening the fourth with consecutive doubles they managed only one run. In the fifth, Guardians second baseman Travis Bazzana caught Kyle Teel's line drive and doubled Miguel Vargas off second base.
The White Sox loaded the bases with two outs in the sixth and scored once, but Vargas was retired at first after hitting a hard ball that Guardians third baseman Jose Ramirez stopped. Chicago still leads the best-of-five series 2-1. The series continues until one team wins three games.
