AfD's Kirchner seeks written cooperation agreement with BSW
Oliver Kirchner, co-leader of the Alternative for Germany faction in Saxony-Anhalt's parliament, has proposed putting cooperation with the BSW party founded by Sahra Wagenknecht into a written agreement.
Speaking at a joint party event in Magdeburg, Kirchner called for negotiations followed by a written record of the arrangements. According to broadcaster MDR, he said this would help prevent later disagreements over what had been agreed.
The parties are discussing individual policies that an AfD-led minority government could implement. BSW continues to rule out joining a coalition and does not intend to vote for AfD's candidate for state premier, Ulrich Siegmund, MDR reported.
AfD won 43.8% of the vote in the state parliamentary election on September 6. It finished ahead of the other parties but fell short of a majority needed to form a government on its own.
