Alonso says Martinez left stadium conscious and is undergoing hospital tests

Chelsea goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez left the stadium conscious and was taken to hospital after a collision against Everton on October 17, coach Xabi Alonso said.

The Argentine collided with opponents after a free-kick delivery in the second half. Medical staff treated him on the pitch for about nine minutes before he was carried off on a stretcher. Mike Penders took over in goal.

Alonso said the tests were precautionary. Results were not yet available when he spoke.

Chelsea won 2–0 through two Pedro Neto goals.
