SKIF-2026 synchrotron research conference begins in Novosibirsk

The international SKIF-2026 conference on synchrotron radiation research began in Novosibirsk on October 18. Supported by the Russian Science Foundation, it runs through October 23.

The conference is linked to the opening of the Siberian Ring Photon Source shared research facility, known as SKIF. Its full title is Synchrotron Radiation: Science, Knowledge, Innovations, Future.

Russian presidential aide Andrei Fursenko sent a greeting to participants. Andrei Kartavy, a department head in the presidential administration's office for science and education policy, read the message.

Fursenko said new Russian megascience facilities should support interdisciplinary research and innovation. He said such facilities provide conditions for developing science, education and international cooperation.

According to the organisers' programme, participants will discuss synchrotron sources, equipment for experimental stations and the use of radiation in fundamental research and industry.
