Amazon is discussing a roughly $7 billion Decart takeover, WSJ reports
Amazon is negotiating to buy artificial-intelligence startup Decart in a deal that could be worth about $7 billion, The Wall Street Journal reported on October 11, citing people familiar with the talks.
The negotiations could lead to a deal soon, but could also collapse or attract another bidder, the newspaper said. No completed acquisition has been announced.
Decart develops software designed to make switching between different AI chips easier. Amazon’s cloud division, AWS, previously gave the startup early access to its Trainium3 chip, according to earlier Journal reporting.
The newspaper cited PitchBook data valuing Decart at nearly $4 billion in May. Bloomberg reported in September that Anthropic had decided against buying the company after due diligence, having considered a roughly $6 billion acquisition.
Reuters said Amazon declined to comment outside regular business hours and Decart did not respond to its request for comment.
