
Pope Leo XIV is expected to visit Argentina from Nov. 8 to 11. Authorities have declared a nationwide holiday on Nov. 9 and additional days off in some regions.
Under Decree 1103/2026, Monday, Nov. 9, will be a public holiday nationwide. Tuesday, Nov. 10, will be a holiday in Córdoba province and the autonomous city of Buenos Aires. Wednesday, Nov. 11, will be a holiday in Buenos Aires province.
Under Argentine labor law, employees who work on these public holidays are entitled to double pay.
Leo XIV’s visit is scheduled for Nov. 8–11. It would be the pontiff’s first trip to his native country since becoming pope. Argentine authorities say the visit is intended to strengthen the Vatican’s relations with countries in the region.
