Juan Grabois accused Human Capital Minister Sandra Pettovello of disregarding the University Funding Law after she said she would take legal action against student protesters.
The dispute followed a sit-in at the Education Secretariat in Pizzurno Palace on Wednesday. La Nación reported that hundreds of students entered the building to demand implementation of the University Funding Law.
A federal court had ruled unconstitutional the decree through which the government suspended the law. Protesters also sought higher Progresar scholarships, an effective student transit pass, comprehensive mental health policies and increased funding for university housing and dining halls.
The ministry said it would file a court complaint seeking an investigation, an assessment of damage to the historic building and a determination of responsibility. It described the occupation as violent and said the building was evacuated in a joint operation by the national Security Ministry and Federal Police.
Protesters said they had met with Education Secretary Carlos Torrendell and Undersecretary for University Policies Alejandro Álvarez before the evacuation but received no response to their demands. La Nación reported pushing and scuffles with police during the evening evacuation.
Grabois wrote on X that Pettovello should comply with the law and described the demonstration as peaceful. The minister had earlier posted a video from the protest with the caption “Nothing by force.” Her ministry said it would pursue legal action.
