Bastrykin says eight people are implicated in Moscow murder case

Eight people are implicated in the killing of a woman in western Moscow, Investigative Committee chief Alexander Bastrykin said. He put the cash stolen from her safe at no less than $14600.

In an interview published by RIA Novosti on October 18, Bastrykin said forensic investigators had reconstructed the crime and established each person's role.

The killing took place in March. Investigators say fraudsters posing as law enforcement officers persuaded the businesswoman's underage daughter to let Daniil Sekach, a 20-year-old Ural-2 footballer, into the apartment.

According to investigators, Sekach killed the woman, held her daughter in the apartment for a day, took cash and jewellery from the safe and threw them out of a window. A suspected accomplice, a 22-year-old Moscow woman, allegedly collected the property and passed it to a student at a city college. Investigators say he handed it to another participant. All three were remanded in custody.

The case concerns murder, robbery and sexual violence against a minor. Among the suspects detained later was a 19-year-old man who allegedly recruited couriers on instructions from the scheme's organiser in Ukraine.
