Russia hopes Gulf leaders will attend Moscow gas summit

Russia hopes leaders of Gulf states will attend the forthcoming Gas Exporting Countries Forum summit in Moscow, Sergei Lavrov said on 18 October.

The Russian foreign minister spoke at a press conference in Manama after the ninth ministerial round of the Russia-Gulf Cooperation Council strategic dialogue, Interfax reported.

Lavrov said invitations had already been sent to the Gulf leaders and expressed hope that they would accept them.

He also cited Russia's cooperation with states in the region through OPEC+ and the gas forum. The forum itself confirms preparations for a meeting of heads of state and government in Moscow.
