Ukraine apologises to Lithuania after drone incident
Ukrainian Foreign Ministry spokesman Heorhii Tykhyi apologised to Lithuania on 18 October after an incident involving a Ukrainian drone in its airspace.
In a post on X, Tykhyi expressed regret over the risks and concern caused. He pledged to provide Lithuanian authorities with information to establish the circumstances and continue cooperation to prevent similar incidents.
European Pravda reported that the spokesman suggested Russian electronic warfare might have diverted the drone. He presented that explanation as a possible cause.
Lithuania issued an air alert on Sunday morning. RBC reported that fighter jets scrambled to intercept the object could not identify it because of poor weather. Authorities cordoned off a five-kilometre area around its suspected crash site in Pasvalys district.
