Belarus reviews readiness inspection of internal troops brigade

Belarusian Security Council Secretary Alexander Volfovich reported on October 13 on a readiness inspection of an Interior Ministry internal troops brigade. He said it practised moving from peacetime to wartime operations.
The inspection concerned the 7th Separate Special Police Brigade. Volfovich said an inspection of this kind was being held for the first time on President Alexander Lukashenko's instructions. It assessed the internal troops' ability to perform their duties under changed operating conditions.
TASS, citing Volfovich, reported that the exercise lasted more than ten days and involved several stages. The brigade mobilised over 100 additional personnel and formed three units. The assessment that it fulfilled its tasks is the Security Council secretary's account.
The inspection identified problems with material and technical support, command arrangements and communications. Volfovich described them as solvable. He also said the approved programme of security-sector inspections covers various institutions and runs until the end of the year.
