Petr Vlah says he was allowed to fly after Chisinau airport delay

Gagauzia leadership candidate Petr Vlah said he was allowed to leave Moldova after a delay at Chisinau airport. Earlier on October 13, he had said he was being prevented from leaving.

In his initial appeal, Vlah described a search and claimed that no prohibited items were found. He planned to travel through Istanbul to Las Vegas for a world wrestling championship.

He later wrote that he had been allowed to fly, local outlet Laf.md reported. It said he was travelling with athlete Alexander Gaidarly, whom he coaches.

Vlah linked the delay to his election candidacy and called it discriminatory. Those are his allegations: the reports give no official reason for the delay or evidence establishing a political motive.

He is running for the NOI party. Combined elections for Gagauzia's leader and regional legislature are scheduled for November 15. Permission to depart does not establish why the initial restrictions occurred.
