BFMTV reports Louvre window was found open in May

Louvre staff found a window wide open in the Grande Galerie on the morning of May 3, BFMTV reported on October 19, citing a source.

The window faces the Quai Francois Mitterrand, according to the broadcaster. The Grande Galerie displays works of Italian painting.

RIA Novosti, citing BFMTV, reported that possible explanations include a fault in the old window mechanism or the window having been improperly secured after a flag change ahead of May 8 commemorations. Wind or a draught may have contributed if the mechanism failed.

The museum's October robbery occurred in 2025. The thieves parked a vehicle with a lifting platform on the same riverside road that the open window faces.
