Robin Singh backs Sharma and Kohli’s prospects for 2027 ODI World Cup

Former India all-rounder Robin Singh believes Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli can be valuable to the team at the 2027 ODI World Cup. In an IANS interview published on October 10, he emphasised their form, fitness and experience.
Singh said age alone should not be an obstacle for experienced players. In his assessment, staying fit and continuing to perform mattered more, and he praised how both former captains were meeting those demands.
The tournament will take place in South Africa, Zimbabwe and Namibia. Singh expressed confidence that head coach Gautam Gambhir and his staff would identify the combination of players required for their World Cup strategy.
He also supported consideration of experienced pace bowlers Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Mohammed Shami, describing them as strong players who deserved an opportunity to return.
Singh stressed that selection depended on the team’s requirements. His comments are an assessment of the players’ prospects and do not mean their places in the World Cup squad have been confirmed.
