Coimbatore police destroy 1,934 liquor bottles seized in illegal-sales cases

Police in India's Coimbatore district destroyed 1,934 liquor bottles seized in 195 cases concerning illegal sales after securing court orders.
The Perur Prohibition Enforcement Wing carried out the destruction under the prescribed procedures. Deputy Superintendent of Police Thangam oversaw the operation.
Divisional Excise Officer Mohan Babu and Excise Tahsildar Alamelu Mangai attended. Their presence formed part of the supervised disposal of the seized bottles.
District police said the action followed directions from Superintendent of Police A. Pavan Kumar Reddy and was part of efforts to curb illegal liquor sales.
Police also said enforcement against illegal sellers would continue. The reported action concerned the destruction of previously seized stock, rather than a new seizure.
