Bilawal urges PTI to return to dialogue and calls governor's rule a last resort

Pakistan Peoples Party leader Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari urged PTI to return to parliamentary engagement. Speaking in Karachi on October 9, he said extraordinary measures in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa should be used only as a last resort.

Bilawal criticised Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf's political strategy, arguing that confrontation was hurting the party itself. He warned that it risked losing power in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa if it maintained its current approach.

He said the federal authorities had been prepared to impose an emergency in the province a week earlier. According to the PPP chairman, his party regarded an emergency and governor's rule as available legal instruments but insisted that they should be used only after other options had been exhausted.

The speech came during PTI's march demanding the release of its jailed founder and former prime minister, Imran Khan. Federal authorities have warned that they will not allow gatherings in Islamabad. PTI governs the province but is in opposition at the federal level.

Bilawal also called on PTI to take part in parliamentary proceedings. He said PML-N had agreed to create a parliamentary committee on electoral reforms and questioned how concerns about elections could be addressed without participating in its work.

The PPP leader said abandoning confrontation would create room to discuss the party's demands. He offered to help change the political atmosphere and urged parties to cooperate on the country's fundamental issues.

Referring to the experience of his father, President Asif Ali Zardari, Bilawal said a political leader's imprisonment did not necessarily determine their future. His assessments of PTI's strategy and possible consequences for Imran Khan were political statements, rather than an announcement of a court ruling or federal government decision.
