Biocad announces registration of Russian ocrelizumab biosimilar

Russia's Health Ministry has registered Ocrelizumab Biocad for multiple sclerosis, the company announced on October 14. Its product information gives October 12 as the registration date.
The medicine is the first Russian biosimilar of ocrelizumab. It is indicated for relapsing forms of multiple sclerosis and early primary progressive disease with inflammatory activity specified in the prescribing information.
Ocrelizumab Biocad is registered as a concentrate for preparing an infusion solution. The original ocrelizumab medicine is Roche's Ocrevus.
Biocad says localising the full production cycle is intended to reduce reliance on foreign supplies. This is the developer's expected manufacturing benefit.
According to the company's product information, the medicine is prescription-only and treatment is supervised by a specialist experienced in diagnosing and treating neurological conditions.
