The National Primavera Braford exhibition opened in Chaco province with 26 breeding operations and more than 145 animals on display. Organizers said the event would bring together the livestock industry, while local farmers cited weather, rural crime and infrastructure as major concerns.
The show is being held at the Sociedad Rural del Chaco grounds in Margarita Belén. It was organized by the Asociación Braford Argentina and Exponenciar with support from Expoagro. The program includes judging, auctions, a Northeast Argentina meat-industry congress and a forum for Braford breeders.
Association president Juan Manuel Alberro praised the quality of the animals and the efforts made by ranches that take part in livestock exhibitions throughout the year. He thanked breeders for continuing to invest in the breed and for bringing animals that reflect years of selection.
Exponenciar chief executive Martín Schvartzman highlighted the partnership with the association and said the show helps promote livestock farming. Judging took place in a new pavilion built by the Sociedad Rural del Chaco as part of a wider upgrade to the grounds. The organization financed the 72-meter-long, 25-meter-wide building itself.
Sociedad Rural del Chaco president Mariela Martínez Zampa said producers were continuing to improve herd genetics despite economic uncertainty. She listed the possible effects of El Niño on production, rural crime and infrastructure problems among farmers’ main concerns. The organization is discussing those issues with the provincial government, she said.
Chaco legislature president Carmen Delgado attended the ceremony as acting governor while Leandro Zdero was abroad on a diplomatic and cultural mission. She described livestock farming as central to the province’s productive economy and said the government viewed the rural sector as a partner.
