Brazilian podcast host Deia Freitas says she was hospitalized after election

Deia Freitas, the 51-year-old host of “Não Inviabilize,” said she became physically ill after Brazil’s first-round election and needed hospital care. She said she is now resting and being monitored by a cardiologist.

In an episode released on Spotify on October 7, Freitas said she went to hospital after votes were counted on October 4. She reported spikes in blood pressure, which she said had not stabilized, and a heart issue that still needs attention. She has canceled her work commitments for the week and has been away from social media in recent days.

Freitas said she does not plan to discuss politics for now because the subject makes her highly emotional. She stressed that she was describing physical illness rather than sadness and said she would follow her cardiologist’s guidance.

She also recounted a conversation with her doctor about people who work and socialize heavily online. According to Freitas, the doctor said some people experience symptoms after abruptly withdrawing from social media.

Freitas created “Não Inviabilize” in 2020. The podcast tells stories of ordinary people and publishes episodes daily.
