Bulgaria, Romania and Turkey seek NATO support after attacks on ships

Bulgaria, Romania and Turkey have asked NATO to pay greater attention to Black Sea security following attacks on commercial ships. Politico reported the three countries' appeal on October 14.
RIA Novosti, citing Politico's alliance officials, reported that NATO military representatives could consider moving counter-drone systems to the region. This was described as a possible course of action rather than an announced deployment.
The appeal followed attacks on civilian shipping. Bulgarian Prime Minister Rumen Radev reported on October 13 that two ships had been struck near Bulgaria's coast, with one sinking.
Associated Press also reported on October 14 that Bulgaria had requested international assistance to investigate the attacks and NATO support to strengthen surveillance and drone-response capabilities. Sofia coordinated its approach with Romania and Turkey.
