Butskaya proposes stroller storage in older apartment courtyards

Mothers’ Council chair Tatyana Butskaya proposed separate courtyard structures for storing strollers, sleds and children’s bicycles at older apartment buildings.

Speaking to RIA Novosti on October sixteen, Butskaya linked the idea to a lack of storage in older housing. She cited five-story buildings without elevators and nine-story buildings where a double stroller may not fit inside the elevator.

She said prefabricated storage should be within walking distance of the entrance. She proposed sharing maintenance costs among residents, as with access barriers.

Butskaya also noted that strollers beside entrance doors could obstruct people leaving a building. She called for a solution that would provide accessible storage while keeping passageways clear.
