Ceferin to seek another term as UEFA president

UEFA president Aleksander Ceferin said he will stand for re-election at the organisation’s congress in Astana in April 2027.

The 58-year-old Slovenian told representatives of all 55 UEFA member associations at a meeting in Berlin that he would run again. Swiss broadcaster SRF reported that the associations had unanimously asked him in recent months to reconsider his earlier decision not to seek another term.

Ceferin thanked the national associations for their confidence and said football had overcome exceptional challenges by working as a united team. The Berlin meeting also addressed next steps amid a crisis in world football, but no official challenger to Ceferin was named.

Ceferin is a leading opponent of FIFA president Gianni Infantino in their power struggle. He recently ruled out running for the FIFA presidency himself.
