Central Western High-Speed Diameter reopens in St Petersburg with lane restrictions

Traffic resumed on October 18 in both directions on St Petersburg's Western High-Speed Diameter between the Yekateringofka River embankment and Shkipersky Protok Street, the motorway operator said.

The two right-hand southbound lanes remain restricted near the cable-stayed bridge over the Korabelny Fairway while roadworks continue, according to the operator's statement reported by Interfax.

The section had been closed in the morning after a drone attack. The city's transport committee had announced restrictions in both directions towards Vasilievsky Island.

Governor Alexander Beglov said the overnight attack killed one person and injured five in St Petersburg. Residential buildings were damaged, and fires broke out at the Petersburg Oil Terminal, the Ruchyi oil depot and industrial warehouses in the Kolpinsky district.
