Cian ranks St Petersburg first for communal-flat room listings

St Petersburg led Cian’s ranking of cities by listings of rooms for sale in communal flats. Around a thousand such offers were available in the city at the start of October, according to the platform’s chief analyst Alexei Popov.
Moscow had 595 listings, Novosibirsk 335, Yekaterinburg 275 and Omsk 271. The figures describe offers on the platform, rather than completed transactions.
Cian counted approximately 8,400 relevant listings across Russia, down 25% from a year earlier. Popov linked industrial cities’ high positions to their historical influx of workers and shortage of separate apartments.
Other market participants reported different trends. Etazhi said the number of offers had risen by 5–10% over a year, attributing this to properties accumulating amid low investment activity. Those are another company’s figures and do not describe the same Cian sample.
Est-a-Tet separately reported increased demand for rooms in Moscow communal flats. That agency’s assessment is distinct from the city ranking by the number of listings for sale.
