St. Petersburg man, 72, charged after shooting at neighbour

A 72-year-old man has been detained and charged with attempted murder after allegedly shooting at his neighbour in St. Petersburg. Local outlets reported the investigation on October 13, citing the city’s Investigative Committee.
Investigators allege that the man fired a smoothbore hunting gun at his neighbour early on October 9 outside a house on Politruka Pasechnika Street. They describe personal animosity as the suspected motive.
The shot missed and the neighbour managed to escape. The Investigative Committee’s Krasnoselsky district division is handling the case. Investigators are establishing the circumstances and considering what pretrial restrictions to seek for the detained man.
Local outlet 47news separately reported that both men lived in private houses and had been in a prolonged dispute. Those details were the outlet’s reporting rather than information in the investigators’ statement.
