Crews clear boulders from Yalta–Sevastopol road after heavy rain
Water flowing down mountain slopes swept large boulders onto the Yalta–Sevastopol road, where crews are clearing them from the carriageway, road operator Krymavtodor said on October 20.
The work is taking place at kilometre marker 38. The company said overnight rain sent water carrying mud, soil and stones down the slopes.
Yalta had earlier declared a local natural emergency because of heavy rain and flooding. Emergency authorities said conditions were particularly difficult in Koreiz, where water from the mountains flooded streets.
Krymavtodor said work across the road network was continuing. It warned drivers of standing water, stones and deposited soil on some stretches.
