Zelenskyy discusses missile interceptors and satellite links with Rubio
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said he discussed ballistic missile interceptors, early warning of attacks and Starlink/Starshield services with US Secretary of State Marco Rubio.
Writing on Telegram, Zelenskyy described interceptors and early warnings of Russian ballistic missile attacks as essential to protecting lives. He also raised restoring satellite communications services.
Ukrainian Defence Ministry adviser Serhii Beskrestnov had previously reported speed restrictions affecting communications used by Ukrainian forces. Elon Musk said the system concerned was Starshield, which is controlled by the US government.
On October 19, Rubio said the United States had not stopped providing intelligence to Ukraine. US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent also disputed Zelenskyy’s statements about an interruption in intelligence sharing and Washington’s role in changes to satellite services.
According to Zelenskyy, the two agreed to speak again soon about the issues discussed.
