Petrom and OMV cut diesel prices by 5 bani per liter. In Bucharest, the fuel sold for 10.86 to 10.97 lei per liter on Oct. 7.
The reduction took effect on Wednesday, Oct. 7, at two of Romania’s major fuel station networks, Economica.net reported. OMV Petrom lowered the price of standard diesel by 5 bani per liter at Petrom and OMV stations. It was a small cut, and Romania’s first diesel price drop in five weeks, the outlet said.
In Bucharest, a liter of diesel cost 10.86 lei at Petrom and 10.92 lei at OMV. Rompetrol, MOL and Lukoil each listed it at 10.97 lei, while SOCAR charged 10.94 lei.
Romania has emergency rules for the fuel market. They cap distributors’ markups at the previous year’s average and restrict exports. Fuel retailers may raise prices only once a day, and any increase must be made by noon.
