Downing Street denies report that Powell plans to resign

A Downing Street source denied a Telegraph report that UK national security adviser Jonathan Powell was considering resigning. The newspaper cited friends who said he had discussed leaving.
The October 17 report came amid a row over a post by Powell's wife, writer Sarah Helm, referencing the banned group Palestine Action. A government spokesman said she did not represent the authorities.
London police assessed her October 15 post and said on Saturday that no action would be taken because it did not meet the criminal threshold, The Telegraph reported.
