Dutch lawmakers reject proposal to leave the ICC

The Dutch House of Representatives rejected a proposal to end the country's participation in the International Criminal Court. In the October 13 vote, 112 lawmakers opposed the motion and 34 supported it.
The authors registered the motion on October 8 following parliamentary debate on sanctions against the ICC. Alongside ending Dutch participation in the court, they asked the government to have the institution removed from the Netherlands.
The document appears on the lower house's website as motion 28498-66. The vote took place on Tuesday, and RIA Novosti reported the result on October 14, citing parliamentary records.
The Party for Freedom's initiative was discussed against the backdrop of American sanctions against the International Criminal Court, which is headquartered in The Hague.
