The celebrations are scheduled to run throughout September and October, giving Londoners a prolonged period to sample the beer, food and music associated with the historic festival.
Oktoberfest traces its roots back to 1810, when Munich held celebrations to mark the marriage of Crown Prince Ludwig and Princess Therese of Saxe‑Hildburghausen. The success of that event turned it into an annual tradition that has since spread worldwide.
