The arrest was made in Thamarassery, a town in Kerala’s Kozhikode district, after investigators said the woman was assaulted under the pretext of resolving her marital dispute.
According to police, the woman and her husband approached Sadath for a remedy to their marital discord, during which Sadath allegedly forced sexual contact on the woman.
Police sources described Sadath as a repeat offender, noting that he had previously been detained in connection with a sexual‑assault case filed under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.
Investigators said the case is still under active investigation, and they have not ruled out additional charges pending further evidence.
