The closures, documented by Parks Associates’ Streaming Video Tracker, reflect a broader re‑organisation of the U.S. streaming market, with operators favouring consolidated distribution over a proliferation of niche apps.
Paramount Skydance ended BET+ as a separate service, migrating more than 1,000 hours of original programming, films and specials into Paramount+ via a dedicated BET Hub, a move slated to take effect at the start of June.
Sports‑focused services were also hit: FIFA+ transferred its library to DAZN, OHL Live moved its digital streaming content to FloHockey, RidePass was reduced to a FAST (free‑ad‑supported television) channel, and FanDuel Sports Network shut down both its television channels and streaming operations.
FC Barcelona replaced its Barça One app with Barça Play, integrating the offering into the club’s official app and website, while CTV Throwback and CTV Movies content were folded into the Crave platform.
“Streaming services continue to experiment with the best ways to reach and monetise audiences,” said Michael Goodman, Director of Entertainment Research at Parks Associates. “The movement of content from standalone apps to larger platforms and FAST channels shows how quickly distribution strategies are changing.”
During the same quarter Parks Associates added two new services to its tracker – OG Network, an AVOD and FAST service, and TrueTVplus, a FAST platform featuring sports, independent films, documentaries and lifestyle programming – bringing the total to 370 U.S. services and 234 in Canada.
The consolidation trend extends beyond closures. Paramount Global is preparing to fold BET+ into Paramount+, leaving the company with a single subscription service in the United States, while Fubo announced new premium add‑on options that bundle Paramount+, Showtime, NBA and FanDuel content without requiring a basic subscription. Separate research also notes that a proposed Paramount‑Warner Bros. Discovery merger would give the combined entity reach into 57 % of U.S. internet households, underscoring the scale of ongoing market realignment.
