Ramachandran, 23, said she feels “in good touch” after a string of recent snooker outings and is now turning her focus to billiards, a discipline she describes as “a little different” and requiring a distinct thought process.
The Indian cue‑sports star explained that while her snooker experience aids potting, billiards demands more tactical play, and she will need to “put in the hours on the billiards table” to sharpen those specific skills.
Over the past year and a half she has also been competing in Heyball, representing India at Asian and World championships, a venture she says has broadened her tactical understanding of cue sports.
Ramachandran highlighted India’s strong billiards heritage, citing legends such as Wilson Jones, Michael Ferreira, Geet Sethi and Pankaj Advani, and recalled that the country secured five medals in the sport at the previous Commonwealth Games in Mauritius, hoping to improve on that tally in Ahmedabad.
To prepare for the upcoming event, she has been working with former Asian champion Yasin Merchant, concentrating on timing and cueing. Ramachandran noted that adjustments to her timing have already yielded a noticeable improvement in her game.
