Emergency Info BC issued an alert about an ongoing public-safety incident at Tsawwassen First Nation in British Columbia and asked the public to stay away from the area.
Delta police said on social media they were responding to a collision in which four pedestrians had been struck. At that stage, police said it appeared to be a medical incident but did not explain what had led to the collision.
Emergency crews were at the scene treating the injured. Tsawwassen First Nation said the incident had brought its National Day for Truth and Reconciliation commemoration event to an end.
The initial notice did not provide further details about the pedestrians' condition, the driver or the circumstances.
