FIFA to review disciplinary procedures after Balogun suspension case

FIFA's Legal Committee will review disciplinary procedures following the suspension of US forward Folarin Balogun's ban. The Council agreed to the review in Zurich on October 15.

Balogun was sent off against Bosnia and Herzegovina at the World Cup. FIFA said its independent Disciplinary Committee suspended his one-match ban for a probationary period of one year.

That decision allowed the forward to play against Belgium in the round of sixteen. The United States lost the match by four goals to one.

Donald Trump previously said he contacted FIFA after the sending-off. The New York Post, citing sources, also alleged that Gianni Infantino personally intervened. The Council's new decision concerns a review of procedures, with the Legal Committee due to report at the next meeting in December.
