Finland to receive 32 million euros in EU funding for counter-drone systems

The European Union is providing Finland with 32 million euros for Border Guard drone detection and counter-drone systems, the Finnish Interior Ministry said.
The equipment is intended to monitor drones along the eastern border and in the Gulf of Finland. The ministry said funding was confirmed in October. It can cover equipment purchases, system integration and training.
The European funding supplements a separate 44 million euros allocated to the Border Guard in Finland's June supplementary budget for counter-drone capabilities.
In April, Finland's government decided to apply for 35 million euros in European support for such purchases. It identified 2027-2029 as the principal procurement period at that stage.
