Easton Royal switches college commitment from Texas to Florida
Receiver Easton Royal announced on October 11 that he intends to play for Florida rather than Texas. The five-star high school prospect belongs to the 2027 recruiting class.
Royal, from Brother Martin in New Orleans, had committed to Texas on November 29 but continued exploring other programmes. He visited Florida's campus twice early this season.
Speaking to 247Sports, he praised the team's atmosphere, attention to detail and offensive approach. He already knows head coach Jon Sumrall from the coach's time at Tulane.
247Sports ranks Royal 14th overall in the 2027 class and second among receivers. During his junior high school season, he produced 2,095 all-purpose yards and 29 touchdowns.
Royal is Florida's second five-star commitment in this cycle, joining offensive tackle Maxwell Hiller from Pennsylvania. He is also the programme's 26th high school commitment in Sumrall's first full recruiting cycle. The announcement expresses his intended choice, rather than confirming university enrolment.
